In 1987, Kenexa’s story first began, initially providing recruitment services to a variety of industries. Then in 1993, we offered our first automated recruitment technology system. A short time later in 1997, we expanded our solutions to provide employee research, employee performance management technology and consulting services. But it was in response to the growing demand from our customers that we broadened our strategy to provide integrated business solutions for human resources. Combining content, technology and services together, we grew our business—and by 1998, we had acquired 15 businesses that collectively enabled us to offer a robust portfolio of integrated HCM solutions.
In 1999, we enhanced our recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) and performance management solutions—reducing our focus on discrete professional services. As a result of this shift, we exited our temporary staffing business and acquired four businesses in 2000 and 2001. It was these acquisitions that boosted our screening and behavioral assessment solutions and skills testing technologies.
One of our most exciting moments came on June 29, 2005, when we completed our initial public offering. Then, in 2006, our growth continued to climb as we enhanced our business and customer base through the acquisitions of Webhire, Inc., Knowledge Workers Inc., Gantz Wiley Research, Psychometric Services Ltd., and BrassRing Inc. In June 2007, we acquired RPO pioneer, StraightSource. We also acquired Germany-based HRC Human Resources Consulting GmbH in August 2007 to expand our presence and growth in mainland Europe.
Throughout 2008 and 2009, we focused on expanding our global footprint to include more than 30 offices and locations in North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific. These global locations support the continued expansion of services to our growing customer base. In March 2008, we opened a state-of-the-art campus in Vizag, India, which serves as a key development center for our technological innovation. More global growth followed the same year as we acquired Quorum International Search Limited, a global RPO provider to expand our leadership position, reach and customer delivery capabilities in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Our story of growth, acquisition and expansion has continued in recent years. In 2010, we acquired the Centre for High Performance Development and Salary.com to expand upon current leadership solutions and broaden our domain knowledge, proprietary content and suite of integrated solutions. Our acquisition of Batrus Hollweg came in November 2011, enhancing our suite of talent management solutions. And most recently, in February 2012, we acquired OutStart, a leading provider of next generation eLearning solutions.
All of our growth over the last 25 years has added up to one thing—the ability to improve companies and enrich lives. With every person we recruit, every assessment we administer, every technology solution we deliver, every survey we conduct, every leader we develop and every compensation strategy we support, lives are impacted by our craft. Very few companies, if any, can claim this—and we’re proud of that.
